Join the PENA team today!ResponsibilitiesJob Title:EHS Technician IIShift:Day ShiftDepartment:EH&SJob Summary:The EHS Technician II is responsible for the execution of EHS program elements in support of the company’s ISO-45001, Safety Management System (SMS), and ISO-14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) goals. Additionally, this role will be required to maintain active communication with management and other employees about all job-related tasks and consult with the EHS Lead Technician, EHS Supervisor/Manager, as necessary.Essential Duties:

Have the passion and the right attitude to promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, and continuous improvement throughout PENA

Know the layout of the facility and be able to complete EHS Technician I duties with minimal supervision, but work is reviewed regularly

Master the EHS processes and be able to accurate use EHS equipment (ex: gas monitors, sound meters, etc), tools, and reporting systems; Assist EHS Specialists with monitoring tasks

Learn and train specialized EHS programs (ex: Lock Out Tag Out, Confined Space, etc)

Conduct audit and inspection processes relating to eyewash, emergency showers, and fire extinguishers with minimal supervision

Conduct EHS training courses; Conduct EHS orientations and on-boarding as needed

Classify EHS cases appropriately, gather relevant information, and fille cases properly

Learn regulatory standards and good industry practices; create basic programs or training materials; Monitor processes to adherence to OSHA/EPA guidelines and the elimination of incidents

Partner with production supervisors and frontline employees to support implementing the set strategies to make PENA safer and more sustainable

Manage and/or lead smaller projects under supervision; supports small portions of large projects under little supervision

Walk various processes and environments; build relationships with employees and supervisors; be familiar with various machines, equipment, and production processes

Respond to incidents (injuries, near misses, property damages, etc), implement containment actions, and gather information for incident investigation purposes; investigate incidents utilizing investigative tools (aka WHY diagram, etc)

Able to spot, report, and prevent incidents on site; Communicate clearly and interactively with employees and coach them

Write EHS incident reports, daily, monthly, annually

Utilize various Behavior Based Programs to promote proactive solutions

Support areas across the plant in driving the adoption of 6S practices

Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization

Perform any other tasks that may be assigned by the EHS Supervisor or Senior EHS Staff

Proactively identify and act on opportunities to continuously improve

Perform additional tasks, duties, and responsibilities as assigned by EHS management.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees, wearing PPE is a must and includes equipment such as safety shoes, clean suit, dust mask or respirator, gloves, safety glasses/safety goggles, hair net etc. In some instances, a full Tyvek Suite is required for some areas.

Basic/Required: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Biology, Chemistry, or related science or technical field from an accredited college or university

Essential Qualifications:

1-2 years of experience

Proficient in MS Office (Word, Power Point, Excel, Outlook)

Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English

Have solid listening and communication skills and be adaptable

Ability to interact and create cohesion with other team members

Must have the ability to deal with complexity/ambiguity

Must be personable and exhibit professionalism

Preferred Qualifications:

OSHA 10 hr. 30 certification or NVOSHA Safety and Health Practitioner Certificate or equivalent experience
