The Department of Public Works is currently recruiting for one permanent full time Equipment Mechanic/Welder in the Tahoe Area. Duties include performing skilled welding work; assisting Equipment Mechanics in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel powered automotive, road and construction equipment; inspecting motorized and mechanical equipment; and diagnosing mechanical problems and determine extent of necessary repairs.
Minimum qualifications include two years of responsible experience performing duties similar to those of an Equipment Mechanic in Placer County or two years of journey level experience in welding, equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by additional specialized training in welding and heavy equipment or diesel engine diagnostics, repair and maintenance.

This classification is scheduled to receive a general wage increase of 4.0% in June 2024. Tahoe Branch Assignment Premium: Salary plus up to an additional $1,000 per month Tahoe Branch Assignment Premium for employees who are permanently assigned to a position located in the North Lake Tahoe Area.
