Chief Diesel Technician / Heavy Equipment Mechanic Job Responsibilities not limited to:
Repair of on-road and off highway vehicles
Inspects and repairs vehicles with diesel engines
Handles routine repairs, including oil and tire changes
Interprets diagnostic test results accurately
Writes detailed inspection reports and repair plans
Hires, trains, and manages a team
Collaborates with other diesel mechanics
Presents reports and plans to clients for approval
Advises clients on repair options and costs
Completes test drives to make sure the vehicle runs correctly
Uses power, machine, and hand tools safely
Follows all motor vehicle repair shop regulations and standards
Work Hours:
Hours vary and mechanic should be available anytime.
This is a mobile position.
Pay:
30% of gross billed and paid invoice for diesel powered equipment.
40% of gross billed and paid invoice for gas powered equipment.
1099 for 90 days. Contract offered after 90 days with benefits.
Diesel Mechanic Qualifications and Skills:
Works with clients and has strong customer service skills
Manages a team of trainees and has advanced leadership skills
Collaborates with other diesel mechanics and has strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrates time management, organization, and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience Requirements:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required
An associate degree in diesel technology or completion of a traineeship is required
National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence certified diesel mechanics are preferred
At least 3 years of experience as a diesel mechanic is required
Must have a reliable vehicle with own tools
Example:
If the completed paid job invoice is $3500.00 the Chief Tech would make $1050.00 as an example.
If the completed paid job invoices for a week are $21,000.00, the Chief Tech would make $6300.00 as an example.
If the Chief Tech manages three employees, Chief Tech would make 3% of gross for each employees paid job invoices.
