Interior Design Assistant Position
Altitude Design Co. is a full-service interior design firm in downtown Truckee, CA serving projects along the Sierras and in the Tahoe Basin.
The Interior Design Assistant position will contribute organizational and communicational expertise to the Altitude Design team and projects. This role requires strong communication skills, knowledge of the interior design industry, knowledge of construction industry, attention to detail, and the ability to efficiently assist the team in moving projects forward and into completion. The Interior Design Assistant position is managed by lead Designers and requires strong ability to self-direct work, anticipate project team members’ needs, project needs, and carry out tasks to continue the project through completion.
Description:
Work under the direction of Principal designers
Make frequent deliveries and drop-offs [milage is reimbursed]
Generate invoices, track orders, and account for Client inventory on platforms such as Quickbooks and Excel spreadsheets; and, outside vendor’s platforms
Make simple selections as needed by Principal and Lead Designers, detail and draft simple dimensions of rooms and areas, write professional and concise client correspondence and take accurate and concise meeting notes
Liaise with associated professions, subs and consultants, and understand the terminology and verbiage associated, in order to produce clear and concise communications to all parties involved for coordination efforts
Demonstrate knowledge of materials and finishes, maintenance and care for materials and finishes, and writing and interpreting materials, finishes and fixtures
Participate actively in preparing Client meeting materials and in Client meetings
May train and assist other team members as needed.
Requirements:
Ability to lift 30 pounds
Professional demeanor
1-3 Years work experience at an interior design, architecture firm, or construction firm
Proficient in computer-aided drawing and hand drawing to quickly convey ideas is not necessary, but appreciated; proficiency in presentation software, Excel, Word, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, and Quickbooks is a must
Experience preparing for, and presenting ideas during Client presentations
Comfortable with the fundamentals and principles of design
Good understanding of interior design specifications, calculations, and industry standards.
Able to communicate effectively with personnel at all levels of the company as well as outside agencies, contractors, consultants, and clients. Close attention to detail and organization.
