JOB DESCRIPTION FOR RESIDENTIAL TRAINING SPECIALIST
Primary Job Function
The primary job function of the Residential Training Specialist is to support individuals in their homes in accordance with the mission of LifeSkills, Inc.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Reports to the Residential Support Manager and/or Weekend Supervisor
- Supervise the individuals in their homes and in the community.
- Support the individuals in completing all activities of daily living.
- Ensure individual’s needs are met.
- Monitor the health of the individuals and report to Health Care Consultant, Residential Support Manager, Records Maintenance Coordinator, and/or Weekend Supervisor as outlined in agency policies and procedures.
- Attend ISPs as assigned or as requested by the individual or their support team.
- Work in conjunction with the ISP team in implementing support as outlined in the ISP
- Complete documentation of individual issues and communicate such to the Residential Support Manager or Weekend Supervisor
- Ensure the person’s home is equipped and maintained in a safe and enriching manner.
- Report any breakdown of equipment or home maintenance concerns to the Support Services Coordinator immediately.
- Follow all company policies and procedures to attain the mission of LifeSkills, Inc.
- Provide support to the individuals in a positive and consistent manner using the least restrictive meth-ods of training.
- Complete individual habilitation plans as written including documentation of training as well as daily log indicating individual progress and/or problems.
- Complete all paperwork as assigned by the Residential Support Manager/Weekend Supervi-sor/Director
- Maintain a clean and healthy environment.
- Coordinate support for individuals i.e., transportation, counseling, medical appointments
- Assist individuals to manage personal funds including maintaining accurate financial records.
- Assist individuals in problem solve.
- Schedule and chair house meetings for individuals on a monthly basis
- Attend all training as scheduled including house meetings scheduled by the Residential Support Manager
- Complete all other duties or assignments as directed by a member of LifeSkills management.
Skills/Expertise
- High School education or equivalent
- Ability to read and write in English.
- Negative 2-part PPD
- CPR and First Aid
- Criminal background check with no convictions (done by NHP fingerprinting system)
- Avert background check.
- Pre-employment Drug Testing
- Valid, unrestricted Nevada driver’s license
- Clean DMV record
- Two positive professional references and one positive personal reference (minimum)
- Positive Behavior Supports within 120 days of hire.
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Ability to self-initiate responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with individuals, families, coworkers and administration.
- Work flexible hours including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
- Complete all required training to maintain employment status.
Physical Demands: May involve climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, talking, and reaching. May involve negligible to significant standing/walking/pushing/pulling/carrying. Involves hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the phone and vision to read printed materials and view training videos.
Strength: Sedentary to heavy – exert force of 10-100 pounds, occasionally. Mobility to work in a typical residential setting and use standard home appliances.
Examples of Equipment/Supplies to Perform Tasks: Thermometers, first aid supplies, blood glucose monitoring supplies, telephones, fax machines, copy machines, and general home appliances including but not limited to: stove, oven, microwave, vacuum cleaner, dishwasher, clothes washer/dryer, etc.
