I am looking for someone to do 24-hour care two days a week (Sunday and Monday preferred). My father is 96 and relatively self-sufficient. My mother is 87, has dementia, and is increasingly unable to do much on her own. The caregiver will need to be able to handle someone who cannot assist much with transfers or other physical needs. We use a Hoyer lift to aid in transfers. The location is in Washoe Valley.
Preferences for a caregiver who is a non-smoker, comfortable with pets, and CPR / first-aid trained.
Caregiver Job Responsibilities:
-Assists the couple with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and other needs.
-Allows and encourages residents to do as much of their own care as possible.
-Cooks and serves meals. Encourage the couple to eat a proper diet and drink adequate fluids.
-Assists couple with medication ensuring that medication is taken as prescribed and that medicines are refilled as necessary.
-Transports the couple as needed for medical appointments or other needs.
-Does light housekeeping, maintaining the residence in a sanitary condition.
-Other duties as necessary.
-Compensation: negotiable
Caregiver Qualifications/Skills:
-Prefer experience with Health Care or Caregiving.
-Ability to manage the changing needs and moods of the couple.
-A valid driver’s license.
-CPR/FA certified or willing to become certified.
-Flexibility on scheduling.
-Physical ability to reach with hands and arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and lift up to 50 lbs. while avoiding potential injury from transferring, repositioning, or lifting residents
