Cascades of the Sierra is looking for an experienced cook who can consistently provide a fine dining experience to all residents in all parts of the continuum of Cascades of the Sierra. The Cook will engage in specialty cooking, preparation, and presentation of food.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
Three years cooking in a fine dining establishment, country club, or Senior Living Community
Must have experience as a line cook.
Demonstrate effective time management skills.
Freedom from illegal use of drugs.
Freedom from use and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace.
Experience and/or knowledge of special diets and meal preparation for large groups.
Ability to read and understand recipes, work in a team environment, work flexible shifts.
Must enjoy working with the elderly and able to accept constructive criticism.
Must maintain good personal hygiene and wear a uniform.
Ability to manage time effectively and set priorities.
Ability to effectively carry out duties as assigned.
Skilled in culinary techniques, food preparation and artistic food design.
Knowledge of culinary terminology.
Ability to operate kitchen utensils and food equipment.
Must be able to express self adequately in written and oral communication and communicate
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure and weight
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
Ability to solve problems related to the position.
Ability to carry out related recipe and preparation standards, as well as standards of presentation.
Ability to accurately follow and expand menus.
Some cleaning and maintenance of the kitchen.
Maintenance of the highest possible food and nutritional standards set by the company.
Maintenance of appropriate sanitation standards in accordance with the federal, state and local
Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
Possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, and visitors.
Must be able to be Serve Safe Certified.
