Overview:
The Mountain Operations Manager is responsible for supervising, motivating and coaching the Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Ski Patrol, Snowmaking, Terrain Parks, Grooming, Parking and Transportation staff at Tahoe Donner. This position is responsible for the short- and medium-term planning and execution of Tahoe Donner Association Mountain Operations. This position leads multiple departments and priorities including operations, safety, service and financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, business partners and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
Leads a small Mountain Operations Team to offer the “best place to begin” in the industry with high quality of guest service to our membership, guest, and public.
Responsible tracking and completion of maintenance of lifts, conveyors, snowmaking, groomers, buses, trucks and snowmobiles to industry standards.
Responsible for all Mountain Operations including Lift Operations, Lift Maintenance, Ski Patrol, Snowmaking, Terrain Parks, Grooming, Parking and Transportation.
Interview and hire staff in the HRIS system, submitting required paperwork to HR in a timely manner. Orient, train, direct, motivate, evaluate and discipline all assigned staff and oversee work schedules in accordance with Association policies.
Adheres to all Tahoe Donner Association policies and values; be a proponent and ambassador of Tahoe Donner Association.
Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program. Implement and evaluate effectiveness of established safety procedures and policies designed to reduce work related accidents and general liability exposure for all Mountain Operations areas.
Arranges, administers and monitors the Department of Transportation Commercial Drivers Safety Program for Tahoe Donner, in coordination with HR department.
Assist with snow removal including shoveling and clearing snow from walkways, stairs, equipment and other areas as needed.
Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required to be at least 21 years of age or older
Requires valid Commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement within three months of hire
Knowledge of DOT Compliance and current DOT regulations
Knowledge of ANSI B77.1-2022 regulations
Knowledge of Ski Area Risk Management and Investigation
Mechanically inclined, knowledge of motors, electrical systems, hydraulics, and vehicles
Experience operating heavy equipment including groomers
High level understanding of resort operations with management experience in safety requirements, planning, purchasing, budgeting, training and multiple department leadership.
Wilderness First Responder or EMT B desirable
Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications desirable and/or obtained within three months of hire
Ability to present and communicate in a professional manner
Experience in Ski/resort industry, hospitality or event planning preferred
Intermediate ski/board ability preferred
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school and four to six years related experience and/or training in ski resort management, lift operations parking, transportation, grooming and terrain park; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
