Drafter / Engineering Technician
Bender Engineering and Construction, Inc. has an opening for a drafter / engineering technician for full-time (possible part-time) employment.
Bender Engineering and Construction is a diversified, engineering and construction firm providing residential and commercial mechanical HVAC and plumbing design, commissioning, HERS verifications, energy audits, and general contracting. We serve Truckee/Lake Tahoe, Reno, Mammoth Lakes and the Sierra Foothill areas. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Model HVAC and plumbing projects in Revit
Setup projects in Autodesk Construction Cloud and accounting/project management program
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
Data entry for HERS verifications (CF2Rs and CF3Rs)
Energy modeling for energy code compliance
Beginning HVAC and plumbing design tasks
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This job operates in an office environment located in downtown Truckee, California and in Sparks, Nevada.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Office work at a desk.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position or possible part-time. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m and Friday 8 am to 12:00 pm. Monday’s and Tuesday’s are in Truckee, CA and Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are in Sparks, NV.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
Associate’s degree in Architectural Technologies with a focus on BIM Modeling preferred but not required
Autodesk University certifications preferred but not required
BIM Modeling and coordination experience preferred but not required
Minimum five (5) years drafting experience in Revit
Communication skills, both verbal and written.
MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook).
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
Hourly rate depends on experience but in the range of $20 to $34 per hour
401k eligibility with company contribution after 1 year of employment and 1,000 hours
5 paid sick days
(1) week (5 working days) of paid vacation with accrual of (1) day per year for each year of employment with a (4) weeks (20 working days) maximum limit.
Federal Holidays: Christmas day, New Year’s day, Thanksgiving day and day after, 4th of July, Labor day, Memorial day, Presidents day
Will allow unpaid days off, however must be coordinated at least 1 week in advance
COMPANY ADVANCEMENT / RESPONSIBILITY:
Advance to engineering position to design and draft HVAC and plumbing systems
Company ownership may be considered after at least 5 years of full time employment
EMPLOYEE GROWTH:
Support continuing education via seminars and/or conferences
Support cross-training into the other services we offer: commissioning; HERS Rater/HERS verification training; engineering; etc.
