POSITION SUMMARY
The Equestrian Center Manager is responsible for the planning, organizing and direction of the operations of the Tahoe Donner Equestrian Center. This position promotes the use of our boarding facilities, is responsible for care, safety, and security of horses, and supervises staff and maintenance of facilities. The Equestrian Center Manager recommends program rates and services to be provided. This position ensures all interaction with our members, guests and public are held to the highest standards. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Recreation Operations and is salaried May-October, part-time hourly from November-April.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class and are not all inclusive for specific positions).
1. Provide excellent customer service to members, guests, public and employees. Ensures all staff meet or exceed the highest level of guest service in the performance of their duties.
2. Manage equestrian center day-to-day operations, including purchasing of supplies and managing expenses. Implement efficiencies to streamline daily operations.
3. Coordinate with the Communications Department to develop appropriate marketing strategies and plans to enhance participation at the Equestrian Center; participate in the publishing and distribution of informational and promotional literature and web site.
4. Interview and hire staff in the HRIS system, submitting required paperwork to HR in a timely manner. Orient, train, direct, motivate, evaluate and discipline all assigned staff and oversee work schedules in accordance with Association policies.
5. Maintain current knowledge of equestrian trends including technical and equipment trends by participation in other local, regional and/or national association meetings and seminars.
6. Participate in the development and administration of the operation’s budgets; direct the forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures.
7. Ensures compliance with all safety regulations and ensure a clean and safe working environment with active participation in the health and safety program. Implement and evaluate effectiveness of established safety procedures and policies designed to reduce work related accidents and general liability exposure.
8. Responsible for the daily cash receipts and accounting for safekeeping of the same according to established written policy and procedures; certify and categorize and upload according to Association procedures all invoices for payment.
9. Respond timely to inquiries and/or complaints regarding service or conditions at the Equestrian Center.
10. Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience working at a ranch or other equestrian related experience.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong oral and written communications skills.
Must love being active and outdoors and love horses.
Proficiency in equestrian operations and equipment.
Requires valid class C Driver License with a driving record meeting minimum standards required by the Association insurance.
Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid certifications recommended.
These skills and abilities are typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school and five years related experience and/or training in equestrian operation including boarding and grooming; or an equivalent combination of formal training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform all of the duties of the position.
