Amentum is seeking a Laborer to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Laborer will perform a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade and craft work to include activities with painting, warehousing, landscaping services, and a variety of tasks that support other working activities for the Hawthorne Army Depot.Typical Responsibilities Include:

Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

May be required to work overtime.

Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

Reads and understands Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks in the workplace.

Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.

Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

Performs a variety of manual labor tasks incidental to trade and craft work to include painters or warehousing activities requiring application of knowledge and experience gained on similar assignments, including custodial services as needed.

Operates a power lawn mower, jack hammer and power tools.

May operate garden tractors with attachments under the guidance of a journeyman, leader, or Foreman.

May operate chain saws, trimmers, edgers, sweepers, rototillers, and power scythes.

Adjusts mechanisms, oils and cleans equipment.

Effectively troubleshoot, replace, and repair irrigation system and components.

Assists skilled trades or craftsmen by retrieving tools, materials, and equipment.

Holds, moves, rearranges, lifts, carries, and/or stacks items and objects.

Cleans tools, equipment, and work areas.

Digs and grade ditches and trenches with pick and shovel.

Fills and levels holes in damaged roadways.

Mixes materials and level patch surfaces with tamper.

Sets forms, mixes and pour concrete

Loads and unload trucks, and other conveyances.

Moves, packs, unpacks, sorts, segregates, arranges, stacks, piles, or relocates a large variety of supply items.

Applies salt or other ice control material to entrances of buildings. Shovels snow from steps and walks in the immediate vicinity of assigned buildings.

Picks up litter from immediate area outside buildings.

Mows and waters lawn within a specified distance of assigned buildings.

Builds, moves and disassembles depot furniture using proper lifting techniques and lifting devices. Inspects and keeps safety belts in good condition.

Maintains assigned warehouses and shop areas in a clean and orderly condition.

Removes and properly dispose of oil, hydraulic fluid, and other spilled liquids.

Moves boxes of varied weights, crates, disassembled equipment, parts, or other obstacles in order to clean up an assigned area.

Picks up scraps of wood, metal, or other material. Removes scrap and trash cans from area to central pickup point.

Assists with janitorial duties such as sweep, mop, strip, scrub, wax, and polish floors using heavy industrial powered equipment. Vacuum rugs and drapes. Washes walls. Changes buffers, brushes, rollers, and other attachments. Adjusts and oil equipment. Washes and replaces Venetian blinds, ceiling fixtures, and room partitions using ladders and scaffolds. Removes stains from rugs, drapes, walls, floors, and fixtures by use of chemicals and cleaning solutions. Washes and cleans windows inside and outside of buildings using step ladders, extension ladders, safety belts, and scaffolds using brushes, buckets, squeegees, chamois, cleaning cloths and cleaning solutions.

Minimum Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age or older and have a high school diploma/equivalent.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license.

Must be willing and able to be at work when scheduled, maintain a good attendance record and willing to work overtime if required.

Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

Must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment.

Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.

Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain/maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access.

Good writing and verbal communication skills.

Must be able to operate a computerized based terminal and have a working knowledge of common software applications.

Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

Must be able to obtain and maintain all required training as outlined in Amentum’s Master Training Plan.

Must be able to perform work duties, routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert while performing safety sensitive duties.

Preferred Qualifications :

Six (6) months of direct grounds or landscaping experience, preferred.

Must be able to operate designated equipment in a safe and effective manner.

Must be able to perform job assignments in an effective and safe manner with limited supervision from verbal and written instructions

Must have general knowledge of grounds keeping/ landscaping functions.

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program.
