Job Description: This position is working on a heavy industrial construction worksite. The carpenter will work with job foremen to complete several projects under contract. Constructing, fabricating, installing and dismantling form work of fixtures of metal, wood, and other accessories
Ability to read and interpret instructions
Document, plan and perform work activities independently
Read and interpret blue prints
Perform all other job duties as assigned
Skills/Qualifications:
2 years of carpentry experience in a commercial setting
Extensive knowledge of commercial construction practices, procedures, techniques, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality control, cost control, and adherence to applicable building codes and must be proficient at reading blueprints.
Must be able to clearly explain steps and provide clear directions.
Must be able to utilize your time wisely to not only be able to supervise other carpenters, but also be able to work alongside them to meet or exceed company goals.
Must be able to complete and fulfill paperwork required for purchase orders, time sheets, etc. and answer questions about the construction processes to field staff and other subcontractors.
Must be willing to embrace the company’s core values
Must be able to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Potential Hazards:
Outside the majority of the time
Potential exposure to extreme cold and hot temperatures
Manufacturing, pipeline, and refining environment
Fit and move in confined spaces including tanks and vessels
Limited working surfaces
The use of X-ray machines
Exposure to noise above 85 decibels and intense odors
Exposure to areas with limited visibility
Essential Requirements:
Climbing up and down stairs and ladders to both get in and out of trenches and up to elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights)
Lifting necessary equipment and materials 1-50 pounds, 50% of the time on a monthly basis for required tasks
Potential or Periodic amounts of time for the following:
Walking on uneven terrain, with an average of 2 miles per day
Standing
Sit, stoop, crawl, and kneel
Use of respirator if position requires
Driving if required to travel
If driving is required, valid driver license and proof of insurability is required. All drivers are subject to a DMV background records search.
