Join us as we digitally connect the world and shape the future.The RoleThe selected candidate will lead our Environmental Health and Safety initiative on a national level. In conjunction with Corporate EH&S, Procurement, and Supplier Management teams, the candidate will document Lumen’s safety guidelines; develop and train standards and best practices. Will be the EH&S LEAD supporting the Regions: monitor supplier safety practices and documentation. Engage with employees and external partners regarding safety awareness and practices. Conduct worksite reviews. Engage with external partners on their safety plans and documentation. OSHA Certified.The selected candidate will recommend and implement corrective actions to eliminate or mitigate environmental, health, and safety hazards. Promotes awareness of EHS and nourishes a culture of safety. Develops programs and effectively communicates/collaborates with cross-functional teams.The Main Responsibilities Responsible for the recognition, evaluation, and mitigation of hazardous workplace conditions in field environments for diverse scopes Performs various EHS duties including working with local committees, managers, and team members to ensure understanding and compliance with company standards and government regulations. Conducts and documents injury and vehicle/field accident investigations and root cause analysis. Identify mitigations and track to completion. Proactively builds relationships with other departments, function groups, pertinent stakeholders Promotes a culture of Safety Awareness. Prepares and disseminates pertinent communication and materials centered on risk analysis, mitigation strategies, and related information to workplace safety work groups and management. Participates in EHS briefings and educational meetings. Applies EHS standards and regulations. Able to interpret and apply OSHA, ANSI, NIOSH, NFPA, IBC, DOT and other applicable regulations and standards. Performs routine risk assessments, field observations and incident investigations. Collects incident/claims report data and communicates trends. Audits policy adherence locally and ensures external partner’s field compliance with regulatory agencies. Serves as field safety resource and provides guidance and consultation on EHS topics. Leads local safety initiatives. Perform program audits to continuously check and improve safety & environmental performance, working cross-functionally with the appropriate teams. Investigate incidents and non-compliance events to determine contributing factors/trends and recommend remedial action to prevent reoccurrence. Effectively communicate safety and environmental compliance messages to all levels; provide technical support to front-line leadership on matters related to occupational safety, environmental compliance, and loss prevention. Provides regulatory guidance for OSHA health and safety regulations and establish site/scope interpretations of these regulations.What We Look For in a CandidateMinimum Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety or related degree and 2 years' experience in a related field (Safety, Risk Management, etc.). The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and up to 2 years' experience; or In Lieu of a degree, 7+ years' experience in a related field will be considered. Experience performing safety inspections ensuring compliance with regulatory standards Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel Ability to gather data, compile information, prepare reports, present to a large audience Able to travel between locations within region as well as other locations across the country Working knowledge of federal, state and local safety regulations, protocols and/or procedures Advanced experience using a Windows-based PC in a work settingPreferred 7+ or more years related work experience Experience in developing, implementing and enforce Safety programs and protocols Experience using Microsoft Office Suite applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel) in a work setting Experience working in telecommunications industry preferred Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (CSM, OHST, CUSP, OSHA (500, 501) certifications, or equivalent) Associate Safety Professional or Certified Safety Professional certifications#CNCompensationThe starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location.
