Apprentice Line Technician

OPPD's T&D Operations is seeking Apprentice Line Technicians to join their team.This position assists in the construction, maintenance, and operation of District transmission and distribution system equipment and facilities in manner that ensures a high level of customer service, system reliability, and employee safety. Complete all requirements of the four-year Line Technician Apprenticeship Program, including all home-study and on-the-job training requirements.Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

Required to assist in constructing, maintaining, and operating all manner of overhead and underground transmission and distribution system equipment and facilities.

Assist in performing installation and connection of poles, lines, transformers, switches, streetlights, cable, fuses, and etc. for overhead and]or underground service.

Operate heavy construction equipment including digger derrick trucks, reach trucks, and other equipment. Will also operate hydraulic and pneumatic tools and various hand tools.

Complete all requirements of the four-year Line Technician Apprenticeship, including all home-study and on-the-job training requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

Requires an Associates Degree from an accredited utility line program, utility line certification/diploma or equivalent, or must have completed an accredited line apprenticeship program.

Must possess the mental and physical potential to complete the four-year Apprenticeship Program in order to eventually progress to Line Technician.

Must have a Class A Commercial Driver's License

Required to pass a pre-­employment physical capability test.

Must be available for overtime as required.

Must have good communications and customer service skills.

Must live within a 35 mile radius of Center/Area Office
