AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Rail Design Engineer II for employment in its established Rail Engineering Department in the United States. The Rail Team engages and works side by side with career rail professionals throughout the US to deliver projects for both freight and transit clients.This position offers opportunity to contribute to heavy rail, light rail transit, commuter rail, intercity passenger rail, and freight rail projects of all sizes from planning through final design and construction. The team utilizes the latest OpenRail Designer software from Bentley to deliver fast-paced, multi-discipline designs to meet the unique needs of a diverse pool of clients.AECOM is a very progressive and successful engineering firm that prides itself on building and retaining a high caliber staff to continually meet client expectations on high profile projects.Aspire to be a key player on some of the best projects nationally, with opportunities to work on international projects as a part of the global team. The ideal candidate is adaptable, driven to learn the latest software and design methods, and interested in being exposed to a variety of projects.Job Responsibilities:Be an integral member of a rail & civil design group of 3-5 employeesBuilds analytic and design skillsConducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineerPrepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for railroad track and civil projects for private and public-sector clients under the supervision of an experienced engineerCollects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineerUses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problemsPerforms work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervisionParticipate in proposal development and other marketing activitiesDirect engineers-in-training, designers, and techniciansPerform quality control reviews and design checks of railroad projectsMay require periodic travel for client visits, site visits, field assessments and construction inspections, as needed
