Position Overview:

We are seeking a proactive self-starter for the Assistant Tax Manager position to join our small but growing, high-performing team. This entry-level management role is ideal for a motivated tax professional ready to step into leadership. You’ll work closely with the Tax Manager to oversee tax preparation and review, supervise staff, ensure compliance, and consult with a diverse client base.

Please Note: This is an in-person position based in Omaha, NE and is not eligible for remote work. A relocation package is available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and review individual and business tax returns

Supervise and mentor tax associates and administrative staff

Conduct tax research and advise clients on compliance and planning

Maintain tax calendars and ensure timely filings and payments

Provide bookkeeping and accounting services for business clients

Build and nurture long-term client relationships

Respond to tax-related client inquiries

Maintain a balanced work schedule with standard hours during tax season and flexible hours afterward.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s, CPA, or EA preferred)

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in public tax preparation and consulting

Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws (NY, NJ, and IL a plus)

Active IRS PTIN required

Excellent leadership, communication, and client-service skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax preparation software

Exceptional writing skills and attention to detail

Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

Candidates with extensive tax experience but no degree will be considered
