Ameritas Life Insurance Corp. in Lincoln, Nebraska seeks Lead Data Engineer.
Responsibilities: Responsible for developing and managing data reporting dashboards and mining, acquiring, and analyzing large data-sets. Utilizing software best practices, creating APIs and services that enable the DataOps strategy to be deployed at scale. Design and implement DataOps solutions that leverage AWS internal products/service capabilities to meet requirements. Provide hands-on support for the ongoing development of Infrastructure-As-Code (IAC) and support operation and maintenance teams. Design and develop reusable components, code and document custom automation frameworks, maintain scripts, and update these items as needed to build continuous delivery pipelines, ensuring rapid availability of product. Research, recommend, and automate approaches for data management practices. Communicating with and presenting to managers from all levels of the business, both internal and external. Learning and understanding the insurance industry, practices, standards, and concepts for all business lines to determine how they are interrelated and the impact on data integration. Assisting in automating data intensive applications and data processing services, working alongside data architects and other teams. Other duties as assigned. Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental U.S., reporting to headquarters in Lincoln, NE.
Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
Requirements: Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related software engineering position. Other special requirements include: Two (2) years of experience using various APIs and programming languages like: JAVA, Python, JavaScript, REST, HTML5, SQL, etc; two (2) years of experience in continuous integration and deployment of data pipelines and microservices in AWS’ cloud platform; and two (2) years of experience with all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
In lieu of a Master’s degree and two (2) years of experience, employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or closely related engineering fields plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related position.
