OverviewAs our Medical Surgical Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital, you’ll excel in your nursing career by providing care to patients admitted to our unit. Most of your patients are funneled in from other units providing you with the opportunity to build on your education and experience in specialized service lines such as cardiac, telemetry, orthopedics, neurology, critical care, surgical services, and emergency. The medical-surgical unit is a 24-bed dedicated unit that cares for a variety of patients including general surgery, medsurg, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine.Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others - with a patient-first mindset. Keen assessment skills, critical thinking, and a sense of urgency support your career advancement and you thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment where you will rarely experience the same day twice.About Us:Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Nebraska. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.Compensation : Base rate + shift differentialIncentives :up to $25,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)Nurse Residency offered for all New GraduatesResponsibilities

Expect to deliver care to 4-6 patients per shift

Administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, and chart with timely documentation

Collaborate with a variety of other healthcare professionals such as social work, care coordination, physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab, respiratory therapy, and imaging

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing program

Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska or nurse licensure compact.

Basic life support thorugh American Heart Assoiciation is required upon hire.
