Toole County is looking for a full time Accounting ClerkThe Accounting Clerk is responsible for performing a variety of clerical accounting duties in accordance with county policies and legal requirements. Duties include performing accounts payable, accounts receivable, maintaining books and ledgers, coding and processing transactions, and related customer service. This position reports to the Clerk and Recorder.Major Duties:Review and process claims submitted to the County for payment according to established procedures and laws.Maintain copies and working knowledge of the contracts that variuos vendors have with the County for goods and services to ensure payments are in accordance with the contract terms.Complete billing and accounts receivable procedures according to established methods to ensure that County entities receive payment for goods and services. This includes prooing, verifying, sorting daily transmittal reports and receipts for goods/serives provided by the county.Maintain general and subsidiary ledgers and journals, post debits and credits, record receipts and balances to the County's accounting system according to established procedures and laws.Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records, using journals and ledgers or computers. Code accounting transactions according to county procedures.Maintain bookkeeping inventory of all records pertaining to fixed assets. Identify all County assets and ensure the information is available. Inventory will be mainted through purchase, sale, and depreciation.Perform general accounting journal entries and administrative work such as answering phones, distributing departmental mail and providing assistance to the public as needed to assist County staff and customers.Help in voter registration, ballot preparations, ballot distribution and the counting of the ballots on election night.This job requires knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping methods and techniques, accounting software, accoutns receivable, accounts payable; the organization and operation of County government, and office practices and procedures. Requires skills in mathematics, communicating verbally and in writing, making informed presentations, and in quickly and accurately processing transactions. Requires the ability to operate general office equipment including computers and software applications; to read and interpret documents such as spread and balance sheets, invoices, correspondence.This job requires education and experience equivalent to an Associates's degree in Accounting, business administration, or related field.
