Job Title: Kitchen Manager

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Kitchen Manager to work closely with the head chef to open and oversee all aspects of our kitchen operations. The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for ensuring the quality and consistency of our food, hiring and managing kitchen staff, maintaining inventory levels, and adhering to health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a kitchen management role, strong leadership skills, and the drive it takes for delivering exceptional culinary experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

Menu Development and Execution:

Develop and update menu items in collaboration with the executive chef and management team.

Ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation.

Monitor food costs and adjust menu pricing as necessary to maintain profitability.

Kitchen Operations Management:

Supervise and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including chefs, cooks, and prep cooks.

Create and maintain schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels during peak hours.

Train new kitchen employees on kitchen procedures, recipes, and safety protocols.

Monitor food preparation methods to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Inventory Management:

Manage inventory levels for food and kitchen supplies, and place orders as needed.

Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.

Minimize waste and spoilage by implementing efficient inventory control procedures.

Quality Control:

Conduct regular inspections of food preparation areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.

Monitor the quality of ingredients and finished dishes to uphold our standards of excellence.

Address any issues or concerns related to food quality or customer satisfaction in a timely manner.

Staff Training and Development:

Provide ongoing training and coaching to kitchen staff to enhance their skills and performance.

Foster a positive work environment where teamwork and collaboration are valued.

Recognize and reward outstanding performance to motivate and retain top talent.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in a kitchen management role, preferably in a fast-paced restaurant or café environment.

Extensive knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.

Strong leadership and communication skills.

Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Experience level:

At least 2 years in management role in a scratch made kitchen. Culinary degree preferred.
