Preschool Assistant Teacher

Assistant Teacher for nature based, reggio inspired preschool group (9 children) 3 – 5 years of

age. Looking to start someone PT with the possibility of moving to FT. Hours are flexible to start.

The teacher must have a kind heart! Be nurturing, respond sensitively and creatively to the needs of individual children and families, and above all, ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children. This person must relate well to children and adults, and possess qualities of maturity, a desire and willingness to learn, and demonstrate patience and good

judgment.

The person selected for this position must be enthusiastic, energetic and have a serious LOVE and appreciation for the outdoors. Much of this program takes place in the outdoors therefore the person must be physically able to handle long outings and hikes. We ice skate, ski, play soccer in the snow, climb trees, splash in rivers and streams, protect bugs, garden and grow food, pick up trash around our community and welcome ever kind of weather!

Working as a team is critical, and as such the person selected must be flexible, creative, and possess the ability to multi-task while maintaining a positive attitude.

The educator must:

complete a background check

have experience working with young children

provide documentation of immunizations as required by the state licensing agency

complete approved CPR and 1st Aid courses prior to working with children

complete required licensing training within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Provide a safe, clean and loving/nurturing environment

Demonstrate positive guidance approaches when communicating with and directing behaviors of

children.

Assist in building goals for each child.

Assist in implementing activities

Maintain confidentiality of staff and families at all times

Display professionalism, including being punctual, dependable, flexible, a committed team member,

and willing to follow the school's policies and procedures.
