REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:High School Diploma or equivalent.Must have or be able to obtain a valid Montana Drivers License and a Class A Commercial Driver License for the operation of heavy trucks and commercial vehicles or equipment.Must be able to be trained to operate construction equipment and perform construction duties.Experience with cable splicing of underground copper, fiber, and coaxial cables; installation and maintenance of single line telephone equipment.Computer skills preferred.Must be able to be trained to install, splice and maintain buried fiber, copper, and coax cables from customer premises to central office. This includes but is not limited to inside customer wiring, installation of demarcation points and central office wiring and splicing.The ability to interpret splicing and OSP layout maps is desirable.Works with experienced employees to install and repair telecommunications cabling, install and repair premise equipment.Ability to learn and adapt to technology and training as required on an on-going basis and have neat and orderly work habits.Must have the ability to perform routine buildings, grounds, and janitorial maintenance relative to the operation of the cooperative.Must have the ability to perform routine maintenance and repair on construction equipment and company vehicles.Must have the ability to work cooperatively with members/subscribers, fellow employees, and others, and to work under adverse conditions.Will work under supervision of the Construction and Facilities Superintendent or Field Services Manager. Position requires that individual must live near the reporting location and be able to travel/stay overnight at numerous remote work locations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Sitting: 1-3 hours per 8 hour work shift. Alternates frequently to walking and standing.
Standing: 1-4 hours per 8 hour work shift. Alternates frequently to walking.
Walking: 1-4 hours per 8 hour work shift. Alternates occasionally to standing.
Lifting: Up to 100 pounds.
Miscellaneous: Dexterity and vision necessary to operate construction equipment and computer. Must be able to climb communications facilities as required. Must be able to distinguish cable color codes.
