REPORTS TO: Service Deli Merchant

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt ? Hourly

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for many important duties including: Serving our guests in a cheerful and helpful manner, displaying and restocking product and assisting with preparation of deli items. A great personality, good organizational skills and the ability to work quickly and efficiently are requirements for this position.

SAFETY AND SANITATION

Is aware of and adheres to all safety, security and accident prevention procedures including using common sense and good judgment to maintain the highest level of safety for self, other team members and guests. Reports unsafe conditions, uses equipment and materials properly and determines appropriate action within guidelines. Maintains the equipment and physical appearance of the department, including selling and backroom areas, to ensure they meet company maintenance, sanitation and safety standards, as well as the government regulatory agencies? guidelines at all times. Continually assists in maintaining proper physical appearance of outside perimeters of store to ensure cleanliness and safety of all. Knows proper procedures for and immediately reports all equipment problems, spills, accidents or emergencies to the department merchant or a member of the executive staff. Have knowledge of the layout of the store and the location of safety and emergency equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Consistently participates in open communication with team members on a regular basis promoting a high level of morale within departments and store. Shares and accepts ideas for department and store profitability and guest service. Continually solicits guest feedback to help improve sales and service.

2. Has knowledge of and complies with all company policies, procedures, programs and directives. Refers to Team Member Handbook continually to ensure policies and procedures are followed. Promotes a harassment-free environment, and immediately reports any potential legal situation to management.

3. Continually strives to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members. Attends departmental, store and company meetings as required; contributes to profits and revenues and meets productivity standards.

4. Provides excellent guest service by acknowledging guests promptly and taking their orders accurately. Prepares and processes the guest's orders promptly and finalizes their purchase in a friendly manner.

5. Assists in the displaying and restocking of deli products. Ensures shelves are filled, faced and cleaned.

6. Maintains the highest standards in relation to stock rotation.

7. Follows through and helps achieve all company policies, programs and directives.

8. Assists the department to maintain proper freshness, pricing, code dating, tare and merchandising of products in compliance with company policies and procedures.

9. Helps maintain product and cost control in conjunction with company objectives to maximize department sales and profits and minimize losses.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

COMMUNICATION: Ability to write, speak, hear and understand the spoken word in order to respond promptly to pages, requests, team members and guests. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.

COMPUTER: Basic skills required.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or general education degree (HiSet); or related job experience and/or training are preferred.

EQUIPMENT: Required to use or operate: Cash register, fryer, slicer, wrapper, presser, compactor, box cutters, etc.

EXPERIENCE Previous deli or related work preferred.

MATH: Basic math skills required. Skills using units of money, weight, measurement, and volume preferred.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES: Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, twist, and bend; hands to fingers to handle or feel: repetitive use of hands and arms to push, pull, carry, lift, reach, grip and balance; occasionally stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl. Lifting may include floor to shoulder and overhead lifting. Occasional use and climbing of step stools or ladders required. Required to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

REASON ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form or when helping resolve a team member or guest concern.
