Aging Services Certified Local OmbudsmanQUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
Associates degree in Human Services or a related field
One year experience in working with the elderly or people with disabilities preferred
A combination of higher education and relevant experience may be used
Ability to work well with the elderly, family members, and other staff
Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver's license
Freedom and willingness to travel
Acceptable mode of transportation
Ability to handle stressful mediating situations
Ability to work in long term care facilities
Ability to climb stairs
Some lifting required, generally 5-25 pounds
Will need to attend and pass initial certification training session and obtain the required number of hours for recertification
Position performs certified ombudsman duties to include: visit long-term care facilities, work to resolve complaints, develop and maintain effective working relationships, prepare and submit reports, train and educate staff, conduct community education activities.
