We’re hiring a Chief Mechanic as part of our Transportation team in Glacier National Park!

We’re seeking a skilled and safety-focused Chief Mechanic to lead daily fleet maintenance and repairs. This hands-on role oversees shop operations, supports seasonal mechanics, and ensures vehicles meet DOT standards. You'll diagnose issues, perform repairs, and keep accurate records to help keep our fleet running safely and efficiently.

The Details:

Position Type: Full-time, year-round with a 6-week furlough period

Start Date: June 2025

Pay: $31.75 per hour

Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Qualifications:

Knowledgeable about vehicle repair techniques and have an extensive mechanical aptitude.

Must be at least 19 years of age and at least 21 years of age if you will be using a CDL in the scope of work.

Knowledge of DOT Regulations concerning the maintenance of a commercial fleet.

Keep abreast of vehicle repair techniques for both fleet vehicles and commercial diesel trucks.

Previous experience with scan tools to diagnose vehicle issues.

ASE Certification preferred.

Physical Requirements include:

Position requires a valid U.S. Driver's License (CDL preferred but not required)

Must lift 75 lbs. periodically.

Must meet all DOT physical requirements and pass a DOT physical exam, including a pre-employment drug screen and federally required random screens throughout the season.

Compliance with the Xanterra Driver Safety Program and Policy.

Must work in confined spaces (i.e., under vehicles) or strenuous positions for various lengths of time throughout the day.
