Martel Construction, Inc. will be evaluating candidates to serve as an Automotive and Equipment Mechanic. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring the proper function and maintenance of our vehicle fleet and equipment, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of our operations. Our firm, founded in 1960, provides construction services from offices in Bozeman, Bigfork, and Missoula, MT. We are capable and seek to self-perform significant elements of most of our projects. A 25,000 square foot state-of-the-art millwork shop in Missoula supports the entire company.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on company vehicles including trucks, vans and specialized equipment, both in a shop environment and in the field.

Diagnose, troubleshoot, and triage mechanical issues to ensure safe and reliable operation of vehicles and equipment.

Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.

Manage inventory of parts and supplies, insuring availability for maintenance and repair tasks

Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance and repairs, prioritizing tasks based on urgency and impact on operations.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

Adhere to safety protocols and expectations to always promote a safe working environment.

All team members may be asked to perform duties and functions outside of their normal responsibilities to assist the company from time to time.

Qualifications:

Proven experience as either a Fleet Service Technician, General Automotive Mechanic, or Heavy Equipment Mechanic.

Strong technical knowledge of vehicle equipment systems, including Chevrolet trucks, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.

Strong technical knowledge of all applicable tools and diagnostic equipment.

Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

Ability to disassemble and reassemble many different vehicle components.

Ability to read and understand drawings of systems and operation manuals.

Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Must be an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills.

Must have a valid driver’s license. Class A CDL is a plus.

Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Must be able to operate typical office technology, such as a computer with Microsoft operating system, copier, and printer.

Working Conditions:

Work in a fully functional shop environment as well as occasional service on construction sites, in all types of weather conditions.

Performing activities including lifting, bending and working with hands.

Must be able to speak & hear detailed information through oral communication.

Must be able to see clearly and recognize small details.

Compensation:

This is a full-time position.

Compensation is $80,000 - $85,000 annually, DOE.

Paid Time Off: This position is eligible for paid time away from work in which to relax, take care of personal matters, and observe holidays. This position earns 15 days of paid vacation.

Mobile Phone: We will provide or reimburse you for your monthly phone services that may be used for a reasonable amount of personal and business purposes.

Incentive Pay & Bonus: You will have the opportunity to partake in a goal-driven incentive program. This program rewards employees with an annual bonus for meeting company, community, and continuing educational goals.

Total combined compensation with benefits is totaled at an estimated $105,000.

401(k): A 401(k) is available for participation after 90 days.

Shareholder Option: Key employees are invited to participate in the company stock program. Further details will be provided upon request.
