Position: Entry Level or Experienced - Installer's Assistant/Craftsman
RN Design is seeking a hardworking team member who wants to be part of a fun team. The ideal candidate must have strong interpersonal skills and a keen eye for details. Must be willing to drive from Bozeman to Big Sky some days of the week. Vehicles are provided for crew transportation and RN Design pays employees for all drive time. All work is finished inside units and fabrication in our shop. Willing to train the right individual who is eager to learn a new trade. Our clients are growing outside of Big Sky, a willingness and ability to travel around/outside of the US would be a plus.
RN Design is also operating ICON Bunks, a full shipping line of customizable high end bunk beds. A new team member would also be involved in the progression of this brand. From progressing our current process, packaging, shipping and logistics side as well as helping develop future product lines with our team.
This is a combination shop carpenter position and install position. Fabricating parts and pieces for custom and production bunk bed systems. As the company grows there could be opportunities for travel if desired. Currently most of our clients are based in the Mountain West, Southeast and the Caribbean.
Job Responsibilities:
Assist with installing custom bunk beds, built-in furniture and custom pieces.
Working with lead installers to come up with creative solutions when onsite issues arise.
Helping production and design prepare bunk bed fabrication by providing accurate measurements of bunk rooms.
Working with finished product for packaging and shipping.
Learning shop procedures to fabricate parts for projects.
Building custom bunk beds, bunk rooms and furniture.
Review shop drawings to determine dimensions and materials needed for projects.
Cut or shape materials to specified measurements using hand and power tools.
Assemble materials and fasteners to create bunk beds.
Helping Shop Manager with projects during down time.
Qualifications & Skills:
Basic carpentry knowledge/skills.
Basic knowledge and experience of shop power and hand tools.
Capable of receiving and following instructions.
Excellent communication with coworkers, clients and onsite contractors.
Attention to detail and pride in work.
Professional demeanor and dress on site. Be able to respect the quality of home and clientele we work with.
Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Must be able to stand for most of the day and lift 75 lbs.
Tool Familiarity: Planer, Table saw, Miter saw, Circular saw, Router, Biscuit joiner
Other woodworking shop tools; and Proper gluing, sanding, and finishing techniques. (will refresh on the job)
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in carpentry is preferred, but we will also train the right individual.
Work Hours & Benefits:
Rusty Nail Design works 4/10’s Monday – Thursday.
Hourly rate of $18-$28 starting pay based on experience.
Overtime is available during busy seasons.
