We are seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and reliable Part-Time Gallery Assistant & Sales Associate to join our team. This role is crucial in creating a positive and engaging experience for our visitors, assisting with daily gallery operations, and driving sales of artwork. The ideal candidate will have a passion for art, excellent interpersonal skills, and a strong customer service orientation.
Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Service
Warmly greet and engage with all gallery visitors, providing information about current exhibitions, artists, and individual artworks.
Actively identify customer needs and preferences, offering personalized recommendations and guiding them through the sales process.
Maintain a thorough understanding of artworks on display, including artist biographies, techniques, and pricing.
Assist with art handling and packing for sold artworks, ensuring their safe and secure preparation for transport.
Gallery Operations & Administration
Ensure the gallery space is consistently clean, organized, and aesthetically pleasing.
Monitor gallery inventory, assisting with tagging and labeling of new arrivals.
Answer phone calls and take messages
Assist with opening and closing procedures, including light cleaning and securing the premises.
Support gallery events and exhibitions as needed
Assist with social media updates and content creation as directed.
Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the gallery.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in retail sales, customer service, or a gallery setting is highly preferred.
Genuine interest in and knowledge of art.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently with diverse individuals.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Computer skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
