Dog Daycare and Kennel Attendant

Dog Dayz is seeking a reliable Dog Day Care and Dog & Cat Boarding Attendant to provide excellent care to dogs and cats staying at our facility. This a is a full-time position that will include weekend and holiday shifts. This position includes direct handling of pets, cleaning, customer service, lifting, and outdoor work.

Our ideal candidate is a person who loves animals and can provide high-quality pet care for our customers while their dogs and cats are with us. We expect you to provide a fun, safe, and clean environment for dogs and cats and put customers at ease, communicating with them, and assuring them that their pets will be safe and professionally cared for. Prior experience in animal care or kennel work is preferred. Professional online and on-the-job training is required.

Attendant Duties and Responsibilities (For Boarding and Daycare)

Supervise and manage dogs during group play in play areas to ensure pet safety

Ascertain dog personalities and play types and assign them to appropriate play groups

Take dogs for walks and hikes

Clean and maintain kennels and kennel facilities

Provide food, water, and meds throughout the day according to instructions

Perform beginning/end-of-day maintenance/cleaning routines

Perform deep cleaning

Interact with pet owners and provide excellent customer service

Maintain computerized records of dogs

Check customers in and out and light receptionist duties

Keep records of feeding and walking schedules for each dog

Photograph and update owners regularly

Requirements and Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old

Must have reliable transportation to and from work

Must be able to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing, stay-on-your-toes environment - this means being physically and mentally capable of handling change and being very situationally aware

Prior experience at a dog daycare or boarding facility, shelter, vet office, or personal animal care is preferred

Familiarity with dog behavior and various dog breeds

Familiarity with kennel operations and maintenance

Passion for taking care of animals

Ability to work outside in all types of weather, stand for prolonged periods of time, move and react quickly, and hike/walk dogs

Ability to work with a team, communicate with co-workers, and present a professional demeanor to customers

Ability to keep track of schedules, multiple dogs and their needs/personalities, and customer and pet names

Physical stamina for cleaning and maintaining kennels

Loyal, hard-working, honest, mature, friendly

Ability to work a regular schedule, over holidays, throughout summer, and long-term

Pay: From $18.00 to $20.00 per hour
