We have a position available for a well-motivated laboratory and production technician to form part of our collection team and assist in all areas of the collection process and in the storage and distribution of bovine semen. Full time position available, which will include some evenings and early mornings. Opportunities for both inside and outside work. Agriculture experience and/or education is preferred but not necessary, we invite people with a variety of backgrounds to apply if interested in the cattle and agriculture industry. We will provide on-site training and offer a competitive hourly rate. Some hours are flexible depending on the time of year, but applicants should bear in mind they may be required to work longer hours during breeding season (February through May).
Responsibilities may include:
Preparation and assembly of collection equipment
Disinfection of collection equipment
Support of collection team during collection
Commitment to team work AND ability to work independently
Assist in semen processing and storage
Use critical thinking throughout processing to ensure accuracy
Analyzing a variety of information and data in order to make decisions
Prepare orders ready for shipment
Monitor incoming and outgoing shipper tanks
Tank inventory
Understand and uphold bio-security procedures
Follow strict hygiene protocols, keep all laboratory areas clean and tidy
Assist in some office tasks
Education/Experience/Skills:
RELIABLE, HARD-WORKING, AND DETAIL ORIENTED.
Approachable, good attitude, friendly, enjoys interacting with customers and teammates
High School Graduate or higher
Basic computer skills – Ability to use Word and Excel
Interest in agriculture, bovine, animal science
Ability to lift 50lbs
Ability to stand for long periods of time and withstand a variety of temperatures
Excellent organizational skills and dedication to keeping areas clean and tidy
Positive attitude and good at problem-solving
