Candidates must be available to work any hours the library branch is open. The Strafford branch is open Monday through Friday 9:30am to 6:00pm and Saturday 9:30am to 3:00pm. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at assisting patrons, maintaining library collections, and ensuring a welcoming and organized environment.Essential FunctionsRoutinely checks-in, checks-out and renew library materialsPerforms circulation dutiesRegisters patrons for library cards, voter registration and other library functionsAssists patrons with directional informationCollects overdue fines, book deposits and other fees, makes change, and issues receiptsPerforms routine computer searches, data entryAssists patrons with location of library materials and informationAssists and instructs patrons in the operation of patron access computer (PAC), copy machines, printers, and fax machinesAnswers telephone and direct callsResponds to regular telephone inquiriesPerforms routine filing and shelvingMay prepare daily deposit of monies collected by branchMay act as Person In Charge (PIC) in absence of branch managerMay provide programming at the branch as needed: Storytimes, Youth and Adult programsAssists supervisor with department reports and correspondence as neededPerforms essential functions during high patron volumeInterprets and implements the Librarys General Conduct PolicyConsistently punctual for work and meetings.
