Position: West End Construction is seeking an individual for a Co-op/Internship/Part time position to assist with overseeing construction and renovation tasks for a multifamily renovation project in St. Louis, MO. The accepted applicant’s primary focus will be to support the VP of Construction through on-site supervision of renovation scopes such as unit interior renovations, new amenities, landscaping, and new construction of a clubhouse.
The preferred candidate will be able to perform 6-10 flexible hours a week (on property) during the 2024 year. Opportunity available to begin sooner than January and continue on past May. This is a paid position at $20/HR.

Responsibilities
Gain experience coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, and other consultants at various stages of a project’s life cycle.
Interact with our onsite property management, and in house asset management staff.
Maintain accurate records regarding construction activity including daily logs, manpower counts, schedule milestones, inventories, site conditions, and quality control.
Perform frequent inspections of work completed to ensure quality of workmanship and clean up for both apartments, exteriors, and common areas.
Oversee the apartment unit renovation process to ensure rent-ready apartments for new move-ins and timeliness to reduce vacancy loss.
Ensure the performance of all contractors to contract specifications and general quality while advising the Construction Manager of any shortcomings.
Skills and Qualifications
Candidate must be based in the St. Louis metropolitan area with personal, reliable transportation to get to work, a phone, and a computer.
A high level of self-motivation and ability to work independently.
A talent for solving problems.
Excellent communication skills and ability to report updates through web applications.
Enrollment in engineering, business, construction management or similar undergraduate program with familiarity of construction and/or real estate preferred but not required.

This internship would be an opportunity for a candidate to position themselves for potential full-time employment in a startup like environment with a small, rapidly growing company. The position will report directly to the VP of Construction and will be mentored by an industry expert daily.
