East Central College has an opening for a full-time (9month) Culinary Arts Program Coordinator / Instructor. Thisposition is an assignment made to a faculty member teaching in the Culinary Arts program following the guidelines established by the accreditation commitment with the American Culinary Federation Educational Foundation, Accreditation Commission (ACFEF-AC). The position is responsible for the day to day oversight of program operations. The faculty member’s teaching assignment may be contractually reduced by annual agreement to reflect performance of oversight duties. The faculty member with this assignment also works under the faculty job description.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:(A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.)
A minimum of an associate’s degree in Culinary Arts or related field; and
A minimum level of chef’s certification at the level of Certified Chef de Cuisine (ACFEF certification), or higher, or eligibility to become certified.
Current certification in sanitation such as ServSafe Food Safety certification.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the employee’s supervisor.
Program Coordinator responsibilities:
Coordinate the overall Culinary Arts program activities.
Exercise leadership in the area of program oversight and curriculum maintenance. Have a broad understanding of the intricacies of the program and its relationship to the local sending schools.
Communicate as needed with pertinent students, faculty, and staff on campus.
Ability to communicate and work collaboratively with faculty, local sending schools, and business and industry partners, and local patrons.
Collaborate with potential employers to develop on going competency needs for graduates.
Evaluate student performance; meet regularly and confer with students regarding their progress in the program.
Maintain student and faculty compliance records (health and vaccine records, etc.).
Assist the Dean in conducting periodic program review and maintain appropriate assessment records.
Review assessment activities as required.
Organize and lead two (2) Advisory committee meetings in an academic year.
Perform as a resource for all Culinary Arts faculty.
Mentor new faculty, as required and provide feedback to faculty through the program evaluation process.
Assist the program Dean with hiring, orienting, mentoring, oversight, and evaluations of adjunct faculty.
Oversee and participate in local events related to student recruitment and any other activities related to the Culinary Arts program and community outreach.

Instructor responsibilities:
Teach thirty (30) semester credit hours (or the equivalent in lab, studio, clinical, etc. hours) each academic year and maintain 7 office hours per week (as approved) for the purpose of assisting students. Load can be reduced for a coordinator assignment.
Conduct all classes in accordance with an established and current course syllabus, submitted following established guidelines each semester, and approved textbook (and/or related instructional material).
Maintain student/attendance/grade/discipline records as required by the College; keep appropriate course/department/program/division records, as required by the College.
Assist in conducting program review; plan, develop and implement activities in support of the Higher Learning Commission, or other agency, accreditation guidelines with regard to student academic achievement (assessment) and their success on outcomes (institutional effectiveness).
Competency in technology, both instructional/classroom and standard office-type software.
Instructor may teach a combination of day and/or evening courses. May include teaching on campus and at offsite location in Rolla.
Communicate effectively in a professional, tactful and courteous manner with students, fellowfaculty and staff,and the general public.
Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
