OUR MISSION
Perennial City is on a mission to transform vacant, unused land in North St. Louis into beautiful and productive urban farms. This is made possible by life-giving compost! Our community scale composting operation keeps valuable scraps out of the landfill and finished compost serves as the foundation for growing a more vibrant and healthier St. Louis through urban food production. We're building a full circle food web, and are excited to grow our team!
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer service oriented lover of local food systems to become a Compost Courier for Perennial City and grow with us. The Compost Courier will pick up compostables from households in the St Louis Metropolitan area, to be delivered to our Soil Farm in North St Louis. Additional tasks include delivery of food with bucket swap, daily cleanup of collection containers, and tracking diversion metrics. This is not an employee position, you would be an independent contractor.
We have big dreams for the potential of regenerative agriculture in our city and are growing a lot—this is the best opportunity to get started with us.
Daily Operations Include:
Pickup compostables from households in the St Louis Metro area
Compostables are to be delivered to farm between 3 and 4pm. Our routes take between 6 and 8 hours to complete.
Cleanup of collection containers
Tracking of diversion metrics
Delivery of food products with pickups
QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have a vehicle suitable for pickups—a van, truck with camper shell, or covered trailer large enough to hold up to 6 25-30 gallon toters and a bunch of buckets.
Self-motivated with a passion for local food systems!
Have a valid driver’s license & clean record.
COMPENSATION
The Compost Courier will be compensated a flat rate per pickup, with earning potential of up to $24/hr.
