Transportation Engineer

Responsibilities:Design of highway, interchange, and intersection projects.Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates for transportation projects in accordance with all relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines.Develop relationships and interact with public and private clients throughout the development of a project.Work with a diversified technical staff to accomplish project objectives.Coordinate and collaborate with other disciplines during the course of a project to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.Participate in member organizations to develop relationships, advance technical knowledge, and enhance QEI’s reputation.Assist with business development and the proposal processCompetencies:Comprehensive understanding of all phases of project document productionExperience with geometric layouts and intersection design and ADA layoutsExperience with traffic signal and storm sewer design a plusAbility to effectively discuss project issues with other members of the design teamPossesses excellent time-management skills, thorough understanding of task assignment and schedule, budgeting and efficient use of time and resourcesUnderstanding and applying design criteria, requirements in relevant jurisdictionsAbility to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovationTakes initiative on tasks in coordinating with other members of the design team
