 Long-term substitutes (LTS) are regional employees who are assigned to KIPP St. Louis Schools based on school needs and are assigned to a school for six to twelve weeks before being reassigned to another school if needed. LTS provide instructional coverage for a teacher absent for an extended period. The LTS will work the regular hours of the absent classroom teacher during his/her absence and perform teacher duties. Position Type: Full-time, Non-Exempt, Hourly, TEMPORARY (per school district needs)On a day-to-day basis, you can look forward to the following:Teach a challenging college preparatory curriculum that addresses the current academic levels of students, is standards-aligned, and promotes critical thinkingDemonstrate knowledge of grade-level standards, benchmarks, and curriculum as well as proficiency in lesson planning and unit designDesign assessments and use data daily and weekly to drive instructional practices and provide students with feedback on their progress; regularly grade student workEnforce and uphold school’s values, policies, and cultureEngage in frequent and open collaboration and communication with colleagues around lesson planning, instructional observations, and student dataSeek out and respond to coaching to increase capacity to run an effective classroom that promotes high levels of student achievementCommunicate regularly with families about the progress of students and remain available to students and families in the eveningBuild strong relationships and positive rapport with students, families, and colleaguesActively participate in weekly staff development activities and meetingsOther duties as assigned by the school leadership teamHelp Build a Positive School and Classroom CultureEmbody and maintain school’s values, policies, and culture Develop positive relationships with students, families, teachers, and staff Establish and maintain strong communication with all parents and share progress Effectively supervise and manage a classroom of up to 30 students Show up for critical school events, including staff meetings, open houses, parent-teacher conferences, and moreDemonstrate a Growth MindsetPursue challenging professional goals each yearGive and receive positive and constructive feedback from your colleaguesParticipate in school-wide and individual professional development (REQUIRED)School-Based Staff must have the ability toOperate a computer and office equipment dailyOccasional moderate lifting, pushing, and pullingMaintain emotional control under stressInterpret policy, procedures, and dataCommunicate effectively (verbal and written)This job posting/description may not cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
