The qualified applicant should be able to demonstrate a high level of interest in Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI). The position provides the opportunity to support CEI efforts for exciting, challenging, and high-profile transportation projects for IDOT, Illinois Tollway, CDOT, and other local Municipalities. This position provides training, guidance, and development of skills needed to lead major projects as Resident Engineer in the future.
Under the responsible charge of a Resident Engineer:Work within the CEI group on the construction projects including local roadways, highways, interstates, freight and transit, drainage improvements and utility relocation and protectionPerform field inspection and documentation of Contractor's activitiesPerform field measurements for quantity calculations and reporting for pay estimatesCommunicate effectively with the project team, including Clients, Contractors, and Project StakeholdersProvide quality inspection to ensure that job is being built in accordance with approved plans
