We are seeking an Assistant School Leader of Instruction to join the growing KIPP St. Louis RegionThe Assistant School Leader of Instruction is responsible for driving strong academic results for scholars through demonstrating instructional leadership competencies, establishing a clear instructional vision and motivating others to follow that vision. The ASL of Instruction strategically implements the school and region’s instructional mission and vision by managing teachers, leading and

participating in professional development, and working to help create a positive school culture as a part of the school leadership team.

Position type: Full time, 12 months, exemptAs a KIPP St. Louis Assistant School Leader of Instruction, your core responsibilities include:

Data-Driven Instructional LeadershipDevelop proficiency in Observation Feedback, Weekly Data Meeting and Lesson Internalization protocols.Manage the performance of teachers to achieve outcomes for scholars through coaching sessions, including development of instructional strategies and feedback based on observations.Track all data, including data meetings, lesson planning or internalization feedback, and observation feedback data in school-preferred data system.Facilitate assessment data cyclesDrive teacher performance and student outcomes through regular student data analysis Work with the ASL of Operations to manage and facilitate all elements related to the administration of assessments,Performance Management and Professional DevelopmentLead teacher cohort(s) to set and achieve individual development goalsCollaborate with the ASLs of Culture and Operations to execute school-wide rituals, like community meetings, pep rallies, whole school assemblies, field trips, and various year-long incentive systemsCollaborate with ASLs of Culture and Operations to create systems that support and empower scholars, families and staff to be successful in their roles and feel valued as employees.Build and facilitate effective teams, characterized by trust, investment in goals, accountability for required actions and clear ownership of academic results and culture on the team.Develop and support the teachers she/he manages and hold them accountable so that they meet deadlines and meet or exceed school goals.With the support of the School Leader, plan and lead whole school academic professional developmentOwn his/her professional development and growth by leveraging lifelines within the region and the broader KIPP network, asking for and implementing feedback weekly, and pursuing additional professional development and growth opportunities both within and outside the region.Maintain personal organizational systems, project prioritization decision making, and strong time management skills, including updated and intentional weekly calendar that aligns to other members of the leadership team.Identify high potential talent and develop staff members accordingly, Manage and coordinate outside of school partnerships at the discretion of the School Leader.School Culture and ClimateConduct walk-throughs in his/her grade levels specifically focused on urgent academic monitoring and respond to observation data in the moment through real time coaching.Establish and uphold school culture norms and hold teachers and scholars accountable to norms and expectations, both in classrooms and in shared spaces.Leadership Mindset and ActionParticipate in all diversity, equity and inclusion work at a school and regional level. Embody mindsets that work towards equity for our scholars and staff and model person-first thinking and the ability to have discussions about identity (race, gender, ethnicity, etc.) Participate in and collaborate as a member of the school leadership team, instructional leadership team and regional leadership team to ensure all students meet school goals. Sees the leadership team as “the first team” and acts to ensure the team is united in messaging and communication.Immediately follows through on next steps and acts urgently, when needed, so that the leadership team consistently moves the school forward.Lives the values and expectations of all staff every day and in all spaces and embraces challenging conversations, speaking directly with the appropriate person to solve problems.
