What you will be doing:
The STL 2030 Jobs Plan outlines several industry clusters that will drive inclusive economic growth in the metro area in the decades to come. Some of these industry clusters have a robust support structure in place to accelerate the growth of the sector, while others do not.
The Vice President of Partnerships and Industry Development will be GSL’s liaison to existing industry cluster initiatives across the region, while also building and scaling new initiatives and programs for sectors that lack support.
Outcomes:
Successful outcomes for the employee in this position include:
Strengthen relationships with industry cluster partners across the region
Develop strategic plans for new target industry clusters in consultation with partners and stakeholders
Launch pilot programming identified in sector strategies
Secure funding through public and private grants that allows GSL and partner organizations to scale industry cluster support
Essential Functions:
Serve as a liaison between GSL and external industry cluster initiatives, identifying ways GSL can support and help partners scale existing efforts
Develop new sector strategies outlining tactical recommendations to grow innovation, entrepreneurship, talent, and the global reputation of the region’s target industry clusters
Identify KPIs for cluster development
Solicit input and rally support from regional stakeholders
Design and execute pilot programming identified in sector strategies
Secure public and private grants to support and scale cluster initiatives and programming
Execute GSL’s commitments as part of the Build Back Better Regional Challenge, spearheading the development of a baseline study and strategic roadmap for the advanced manufacturing industry cluster
Support the development of GSL’s GeoFutures initiative into a sustainable and mature industry cluster backbone
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by Greater St. Louis, Inc.
Characteristics Needed for Position:
Excellent project management skills and ability to multitask
Exceptional critical and strategic thinking
Impeccable presentation, writing and communication skills
High degree of emotional intelligence and savvy to navigate complex political environments
Comfort with ambiguity and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Exceptional standards of quality, attention to detail, and follow-through
Willingness to work irregular and intense hours, as needed, to manage priority projects on critical deadlines
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree required
4–6 years of experience in a field such as economic or workforce development or private sector consulting
Demonstrated project management and leadership experience
Travel and Schedule:
Could require travel based on project demands. Must be available during standard business hours. May be required to work more than 8 hours during a workday as project deadlines demand. Must be available to work occasional off-hours. Events and meetings will involve some early mornings, evenings, and weekends. Must be able to work on a full-time basis, under time constraints and in an intense, fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
