OverviewGovCIO is seeking an Integration Engineer to join our dedicated team focused on enhancing and modernizing VA.gov through robust system integrations. This critical role involves developing and implementing application integrations via REST/SOAPAPIs .The ideal candidate will activelyparticipatein all phases of system development from planning to deployment, ensuring strict adherence to software and integration standards. Responsibilities include coordinating with OIT teams todeterminehosting environments, working with partners toleverageexisting API services, and developing new integration processes that bridge VA's legacy systems with current services. The position requires a strong analytical ability to assess system requirements, includingunderstandingvarioushardware/software needs and information flow, and to craft comprehensive operational instructions and documentation to support successful integration efforts.This is a fully remote position.ResponsibilitiesDevelops and implements application integrations through REST/SOAP APIs and (non-GUI) web services. Participates in both the planning and deployment phases of system development, ensuring compliance with software standards. Prepares operational instructions, compiles documentation on program development, and conducts system analyses to address issues related to programobjectives, output specifications, data input, programming strategies, and control mechanisms.

Work with the team todevelopanew integration process that integrates VA’s legacy system with an existing service and feature on VA.gov.

Work with OIT Teams and coordinate onidentifyingthe environments integration work will be hosted.

Work with establishedpartnerteams toidentifywhich API services can be used to get data fromvarious established systems.

Work with existing application teams to understand specific needs of each integration.

Integrate with all necessary applications, working alongside the existingpartnerdevelopment teams.

Create database objects, as needed.

Assistthe team in integration testing of the system integrations.

Proactively communicate and coordinate with various internal and external project stakeholders.

Analyzes detailed system factors, including input and output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, and alternative methods of problem resolution.

Assists BA and Technical Writers in creating new operational procedures and documentation around integrations.

Participates in code reviews and Sprint Reviews torepresentreviewed work for adherence to contract deliverables and program specifications.

QualificationsRe quired Skills and Experience

Bachelor'swith2-5years (orcommensurateexperience).

Demonstrated experience inmanaging the integrationof large systems.

Analytical and investigation skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and supervision.

Experience with Agile Methodology and Scrum Processes.

Advanced knowledge of software development lifecycle.

Experience with code versioning and project management tools. (e.g.GitHub, Jira, etc.).

Demonstrated experience in a remote work environment.

Must be a US citizen or authorized to work in the US.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Experience with VA and/or other Federal Agencies.

Understanding of the VA Veteran-Focused Integration Process (VIP) project managementmethodology.

Understanding of existing API services in VA network, writing SQL procedures / functions / triggers.

Expertisein system integrations, preferably with knowledge ofCorpDB, CSS, IAM, DGIB, MPI, VA Profile, VA.gov and VBMS.

Clearance Required

Ability to obtain and maintain a Suitability/Public Trustclearance.
