Positions in this function perform various duties related to the fulfillment of prescription orders. Dispense any or all of the following: unit doses, specialty pharmaceuticals, injectables, IV, enterals and related supplies following state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures. May compound medications using appropriate components, supplies and sterile/ventilated environment. Process, pack and ship outgoing pharmacy orders, ensuring drug, related supplies and patient collateral (education materials) are included. May also perform drug/supply ordering and inventory/warehouse duties, including proper storage of drugs and supplies and appropriate refrigeration of perishable product, monitor and adjust/calibrate pharmacy equipment, fill dispensing units. Clerks, Techs and Pharmacists in regional and local pharmacies may also perform the following as permitted by state regulation: Prep and scan documents, verify member/patient data, submit prescription orders in computer system. Contact members/patients to validate data, resolve rejected claims, request payment information, establish priority of order or delivery details, consult on medication issues, and set up treatment in on-site facilities. Interpret provider prescription and create order, access, input and retrieve prescription and medical/lab information from computer system, verifies whether order/drug is reimbursable/covered. Pharmacists monitor and verify all prescription orders upon creation and dispensing. Calibrate dosing pumps.- Pharmacists in this function may also act as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) which has additional duties to ensure Pharmacy is in compliance with federal and state regulations, professional standards and internal procedures.Schedule: Per Diem (up to 40 hours/week, if needed) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work regularly scheduled shifts within our hours of operation (8:30 am to 5:00 pm CST). It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays.Primary Responsibilities:

Reviews medication orders and evaluates appropriateness and completeness of orders with consideration given to the special needs and behaviors of the specific age group served

Verifies all prescriptions not directly received from the prescriber or physician’s agent

Provide oversight of the safety; appropriateness, and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provide to patients (consumers) as it relates to specialty products dispensed

Assesses the patient at the initiation of drug therapy, develops a patient care plan and drug monitoring regimen and monitors the patient according to the care plan throughout the course of therapy

Communicates with the patient, physician, nursing staff, other pharmacists, and other members of the health care team regarding patient status, response to therapy and clinical objectives to ensure clinical outcomes are met

When required, compounds intravenous and specialty pharmaceuticals in an aseptic fashion according to established State Board of Pharmacy, Federal, USP <797> sterile guidelines and company policy

Knowledgeable of the proper use and handling of both sterile and hazardous medications

Compounds and handles sterile and hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines and regulations Ensures compliance with all FDA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy, OSHA, and other regulatory standards

Follows all department policies and procedures

Manage miscellaneous tasks and projects to meet business needs

Provides indirect oversight of pharmacy technician and pharmacy support staff

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs occasionally when required and as needed

Ability to stand for an 8-hour shift and utilize ladders as needed

BS in Pharmacy or PharmD degree

Pharmacist license in good standing in the State of Missouri

2+ years of general pharmacy practice experience

Demonstrated experience communicating and working effectively with branch departments

Experience multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment

Experience working independently with minimal supervision

Knowledgeable in various infusion related therapies and ability to work through the complexity of therapy related orders

Proven drug product and clinical pharmacy knowledge

Intermediate level of proficiency with computers, Microsoft Outlook (ability to manage emails and calendar), and Microsoft Excel (ability to enter, sort, filter and interpret data)

Demonstrated ability to take call after hours, weekends and holidays as scheduled

Preferred Qualifications:

1+ years of practicing Pharmacist experience working in home infusion

Experience developing or operationalizing medication clinical guidelines and/or formulary development

Experience working within a managed healthcare system

Knowledge of WellSky CPR+ Dispensing Platform

Ability to work up to 40 hours per week and overtime as required according to the needs of the business (8-hour shift between the hours of 8:30 am - 5:00 pm CST M - F)
