Essentials:
Perform clerical tasks necessary to process payroll and to maintain payroll records.
Process employee's time reports and exceptions such as vacation, sick leave, holiday, etc.
Process adjustments to employees records for changes in wages and supplementary benefits such as vacation, holidays, misc. deductions, tax status, etc.
Edits source documents and related computer listing, tracing and correcting error in source documents and listings, maintaining and verifying control totals for all phases of payroll.
Prepare requested manual reports not generated by the automated system.
Maintain files of inventories of payroll records.
Knowledge and Skills:
Must be able to work well under pressure of deadlines and work overtime occasionally on short notice.
Understand some holiday weeks are blacked our for vacation requests.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and public.
Excellent organization skills, knowledge of clerical methods and office practices and procedures.
Knowledge of company policies, procedures and union contracts.
Knowledge of accounting principles, decimals, fractions, clock-hours, and arithmetic proficiency.
Understand both written and oral detailed instructions and standardized procedures.
Expertise with pc, excel, word, access software and ability to learn new computer software as needed.
Able to read and evaluate specific error messages upon document input and takes corrective action.
Ability to use a calculator using the touch method.
Able to read microfiche, microfilms and related software
Good communication skills and telephone manners.
