About the Job

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Buyer to manage procurement activities, including purchasing, bidding, and negotiating, while fostering strong relationships with suppliers. This role will also spearhead special commercial projects for MLC sites, driving efficiency and cost-effectiveness in the procurement process.

Prepare and process purchase orders, handle change orders, and communicate with suppliers regarding material requirements, deliveries, and order adjustments.

Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness, ensuring alignment with restocking needs.

Prepare and distribute requests for quotations (RFQs) and bids; evaluate commercial offers with a focus on total cost of ownership and value.

Develop and maintain knowledge of procurement processes, policies, and systems, ensuring compliance with company standards.

Implement category procurement strategies, including supplier selection and cost-saving initiatives in alignment with overall sourcing strategies.

Support supplier negotiations by staying informed on pricing trends, technical data, and market conditions within assigned categories.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance acquisition channels at various sites, shifting activity from procurement cards (p-cards) to system-based orders.

Assist in optimizing inventory and financial processes to reduce lead times, mitigate supply chain risks, and drive process improvements.

Use applicable software and tools for procurement activities, ensuring accurate records and adherence to guidelines.

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in business or a related field

Experience:

Minimum of 3 year of experience as a buyer in a mining or manufacturing environment, with a willingness to spend time in production areas to identify and resolve procurement issues.

Knowledge & Skills:

Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, sourcing processes, parts management, and/or category management is preferred.

Strong analytical skills, particularly in price and data analysis using Excel.

Strong negotiation skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
