Prepares and cooks all meals for inmates on an assigned shift
Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position
Prepares drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for disbursement to housing units
Prepares sack meals for inmates leaving the facility
Reviews menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks
Loads and sets up delivery carts with appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units
Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils
Maintains standards of sanitation and cleanliness - Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment
Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping floors - Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers as appropriate to the area of operation
Assists inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment
Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies
Maintains knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and food safety procedures
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
