Primary Function:
Perform routine welding operations to repair defects in castings using heliarc equipment.Tools and Equipment:
Burr and grinding guns, drill press, hand sanding equipment, tote pans, belt grinders, heliarc welders
mechanics hand tools etc.Material:
Aluminum, copper, and brass based castings, welding gases, weld rod, etc.Working Procedure:
Under the guidance and direction of the department supervisor, the lead person and the Welder ATHE FOLLOWING ARE THE USUAL MAJOR JOB DUTIES BUT THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT PRECLUDE THE PERFORMANCE OF
OTHER DUTIES BY THE INCUMBENT.
Shall adhere to all safety requirements as posted on the job safety card.
Shall consistently follow all applicable work instructions.
Shall receive daily work assignments from the department supervisor or lead person.
Shall visually inspect the defective castings as marked, assessing the areas designated to be
repaired and the potential for successfully repairing the problem.
Shall check the defective casting in the zyglo dark booth to determine if the casting should be routed
out or beveled using a belly grinder, burr gun, drill press, etc., and the depth of the metal to be
removed.
Shall select the proper weld rod and set proper polarity and range of heliarc unit.
7Shall visually inspect all castings for obvious defects, notifying the supervisor of such.
Shall weld repair casting utilizing proper technique, with minimum weld and distortion to repair the
casting.

Shall maintain batch integrity.
Shall grind excess weld material from casting to blend welds, maintaining required casting contours.
Shall color code weld rod upon receipt in the department.
Shall move the castings to the next operation per the process sheet.
Shall maintain all records, vouchers, and logs in a clean and orderly condition, where accuracy is
paramount.
Shall attend and successfully complete hazardous material / waste handling classes.
Shall attend and successfully complete lockout / tagout training.
Shall attend and successfully complete training in the proper techniques of lifting.
Shall maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Shall perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:Shall work in an area where airborne grinding dust is present.Special Skills Required:Must be able to pass all qualifications to aerospace standards.Must be able to handle the physical demands of the job.Must pass certification test in welding proficiency within the initial ninety (90) days period on the job.Must have 20 / 20 (correctable) vision in one eye and have color perception.Must be able to weld aluminum, brass and copper parts with a TIG welder.For more information, or to apply now, you must go to the website below.
