JOB OVERVIEW:The purpose of this paraprofessional position is to provide complex administrative and technical support through the St Louis Terrorism Early Warning Group (SLTEW) to coordinate intelligence sharing through the region. This position is grant-funded for 3 years. SLTEW provides a multi-jurisdictional, multi-disciplinary approach to the collection, analysis and dissemination of information used to detect, defend against, or respond to acts of terrorism. This position acts under the supervision of the Captain - Bureau of Criminal Investigations and SLTEW.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Collects, evaluates, analyzes and disseminates information and intelligence in a responsible and legal manner to the agencies tasked with Homeland Security responsibilities.

Analyze local, regional, state, national and international issues related to threats with a nexus to Homeland Security and law enforcement.

Researches and analyzes Homeland Security related issues for relevancy to public safety efforts in the St Louis region.

Collect incident reports of suspicious activities to be evaluated and analyzed in an effort to identify potential trends or patterns of terrorist or criminal operations within the St. Louis area.

Works on projects to gather data, develop trends and/ or potential strategies on Homeland Security issues and prepares written and oral reports.

Utilizes a variety of open sources, computer databases, and other resources to research data and integrate information.

Communicates with local, state, and federal public safety agencies regarding Homeland Security related issues.

Communicates with the public regarding Homeland Security related issues.

Maintains knowledge of criminal and Homeland Security analysis methods, law enforcement techniques, 28 CFR Part 23, and civil liberty and privacy guidelines.

Knowledge of Microsoft Suite, basic computer operation and social media platforms.

Ability to self start and work independently.

Ability and willingness to travel out of state for training, and work offsite.

Possess a basic understanding of law enforcement practices.

Ability and willingness to work additional hours and/or from home.
