Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create stock length cost proposals for customers based on elevation take-offs, using our price book and computer software
Write orders, purchase requisitions, and metal requests
Provide pricing of change orders and backorders to insure accurate invoicing
Provide detailed estimates to our customers in a timely manner.Work from architectural drawings and specifications, shop drawings or elevation take-offs
Follow up on estimates and provide feedback concerning market pricing levels
Achieve acceptable sales and margin levels.Monitor actual vs. estimated costs and work with leadership to adjust standards accordingly
Enter orders, door fab sheets, metal requests, and assist walk in customers
Provide consultation, coordination, and assistance to our clients, sales force and internal personnel
Maintain detailed and organized records of bid documents, correspondence and other project specific information
Travel with outside sales personnel as required to promote customer relations
Assist with phone coverage
Skills, Knowledge, and Ability RequirementsTo be considered for the Estimator position, the following conditions must be met:
Prior experience estimating mid-size glazing projects form architectural drawings and specifications a plus.
Ability to read, interpret, and understand architectural drawings and specifications and provide detailed take offs and estimates that incorporate different building envelope solutions.
Experience using computer software estimating programs to prepare estimatesof aluminum glazing systems and their application.
Strong geometry and math skills.
Organized, self-starter with the ability to handle numerous projects, phones, prioritize workload and work with minimal supervision.
Must be able to communicate effectively and conduct themselves professionally; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Autocad/Revit experience and skill set a plus
Need to have good working knowledge of fabrication and installation in order to have good understanding of customer needs.
Microsoft Excel experience a plus.
Equipment
Personal desktop computers, fax machine, copy machine, calculator, writing instruments, telephone, and various printers.
Issued safety equipment.
Safety
This position is a largely sedentary; however, caution needs to be taken when lifting files, boxes, opening file cabinet drawers.
To avoid injuries to hands, back and neck, proper ergonomics should be maintained while working at desk/workstation.
There are occasional visits to the plant floor in which case safety rules related to the plant must be followed; including wearing necessary safety equipment while out on the plant floor.
Work Environment
Prima ily works in an office environment with controlled climate.
Ability to perform light hand activity work at a computer/telephone station in an office environment.
Position is primarily sedentary.
