Job Title: Kindergarten Classroom TeacherDepartment: InstructionReports to: Building PrincipalClassification: Certified / ExemptSummaryTo create a flexible kindergarten grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupils ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Provides learning experiences in language arts, social studies, pre-reading, arithmetic, and science, to pupils, utilizing course of study adopted by the Board of Education, and other appropriate learning activities.

Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.

Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal or visual instruction of pupils with wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturities.

Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs a help the pupils make a satisfactory transition to school.

Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities without interfering with the naturally informal atmosphere of a kindergarten.

Evaluates academic and social growth of pupils, and keeps appropriate records.

Communicates with parents through a variety of means. Holds parents conferences to discuss the individual pupils progress and interpret the school program.

Identifies pupil needs, and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.

Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.

Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities.

Selects and requisitions books and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records.

Ensures a comfortable room environment through control of heating, lighting, and ventilation to the extent possible.

Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.

Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs as required.

Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities.

Other duties as may be assigned by the administrator.

Supervisory DutiesSupervises students at all times.QualificationsEducation/Experience/CertificatesBachelors Degree and valid Missouri teaching certificate required; or such alternative to these qualifications that the Board may find appropriate and acceptable. Must have B-3 Early Childhood certification.Skills and AbilitiesLanguageMust have the ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures/forms, and government regulations and guidelines. Must be able to complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents. Must have the ability to write clearly and complete lesson plans.ComputationThe individual must have the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; and apply concepts such as fractions, perc ntages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.ReasoningMust have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Must be able to apply knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques while presenting subject matter to students.TechnologyThe individual must understand basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use.
