Summary
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process; compiles and evaluates data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.
Essential duties, responsibilities and authorization for the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Interprets engineering drawings and diagrams and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards;
Analyze inspection data to determine product conformance and process capability;
Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability;
Sets up and creates First Article Inspection reports that comply with industry standards and customer requirements including material, processing and dimensional data. Incorporate coordinate measuring machine (CMM) reports.
Ensures products and documentation are inspected and maintained as required by the respective customer’s requirements;
Initiates NDR for material or product suspect of nonconforming condition, contact QA Manager for action and disposition, when required;
Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of inspection equipment;
Coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications;
Experience with operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and interpretation of CMM reports a definite plus.
Supports Manufacturing Operations in daily operations, process improvements, organization, and cost reductions;
Coordinate/facilitate source inspections by customers;
Follow the Quality Management System procedures and instructions;
Maintain a safe, clean and orderly work environment;
Ensure tools and equipment used for recording measurements are calibrated and maintained;
Ensure hazardous materials and liquids within your area has the proper identification, is stored in a safe environment and handled with care;
Education and/or Experience
One year certificate from college or technical school; or 2-3 years related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Aerospace industry background preferred.
