Summary
Lays out, fits, and welds fabricated components to assemble structural forms. Position, align and fit together fabricated plates, structural shapes, and weldments preparatory to assembly into structural fabricated products by performing the following duties.

Study engineering blueprints, drawings, models and other specifications to determine customer requirements.
Selects equipment and plans layout, assembly, and welding.
Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
Measures, marks and scribes metal for welding.
Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.
Must understand and know how to operate the preheat/post heat oven or furnace.
Assembles parts by bolting and riveting.
Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
Lifts machined parts and positions and secures parts worktable.
Smooths flat and contoured surfaces and power grinders, and fits and assembles parts together and into assemblies and
mechanisms.
Inspect and remove foreign objects and debris found during welding process.
Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances.
Measures workpiece for conformance to specifications and records on inspection data sheets actual measurements for key
characteristics.
Notify supervisor of quantity discrepancies, product suspect of nonconformance or fixtures/equipment in need of repair or replacement.
Ensure documentation is maintained as required by the respective customer's requirements.
Ensure product is properly identified (part no., quantity, etc.)
Return fixtures, tools or equipment back to their normal location.
Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
Ensure tools and equipment used for recording measurements are calibrated and maintained.
Ensure hazardous materials and liquids have proper identification, are stored in a safe environment and handled with care.
Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.
Observe the safety rules and regulations and wear the required safety equipment.
Support the Quality Management System to assure compliance to quality, industrial and government standards and regulations.
Education and/or Experience
Must have skills and knowledge with Mig and Tig welders. Experience with stainless, aluminum, bronze, cast iron and various exotic materials. Two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training/ or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must pass a pre-employment welding test.
